Alien Feast

Animal mutilations have been going on for centuries, not decades, and we still know very little about them, but we’re getting better in the investigation area. Some investigators have found trace evidence of micro-meteorites on the animal’s hide, I’ve found high levels of EM (electro-magnetics) and changes in the soil nutrients (CEC’s), and we’ve all interviewed ranchers who’ve seen either UFO’s or Balls of Light from  time to time. But have animal mutilations, cows in particular, been associated with a major UFO event? The following blog was taken from a recent article I wrote for the Roswell Daily Record newspaper which may tie an animal mutilation or a type of animal phenomenon, to the 1947 Roswell UFO event.

***

On September 9th, 1967, members of the King family ranch in the San Luis Valley, Colorado, found the dead body of their three year old horse near the base of Blanca Peak, which is a sacred mountain of the Navajo Indian Tribe. Lady the horse, later mis-identified as Snippy, had her flesh removed around the right side of her jaw line and neck including other unusual cuts along her body. “These wounds were precisely done as if by a surgeon”, said the rancher and law enforcement at the scene. The King ranch and other ranchers in the area had experienced cattle deaths on their land before due to natural causes, but had never seen anything like this before.

Not to go into a gross detailed explanation, but the animal mutilation phenomenon consists of a death of an animal, commonly a cow or a horse under unknown and unusual circumstances. The animal is drained of blood and surgical-like cuts are seen on the carcass. I’ve personally seen some animals lying in a crop-circle-like depression and their bodies facing an east to west (or visa-versa) direction. Also, majority of them are found lying on their right side. George Knapp, an investigative reporter out of Las Vegas, Nevada, had researched and learned, that over 10,000 unusual animal mutilation cases have been reported since that 1967 case. Out of all those unusual cases investigated by law enforcement, as well as new ones, no human evidence has been found relating to the cause of death, so no one has ever been caught, or convicted of the crime. These are truly the largest animal cruelty cases in the US.

But has this been happening just since 1967? I interviewed a member of the Navajo nation in the San Luis Colorado area, and it appeared their ancestors had seen this type of animal destruction well before the European migration. With further research, I learned about another case happening before 1967.

In Volume 38, No. 11 of a 1985 Fate Magazine issue was a reprinting of an article from 1896, in Howell, Missouri, describing a UFO hovering over a rancher’s pasture. The article stated; the family first watched strange lights slowly descend upon their ranch from the night sky, eventually turning into a solid craft. The craft then hovered over their barn and pasture area where the cows were kept. The family ran into the house extremely frightened, and the youngest daughter exclaimed in the article, “This was the longest night of their lives.” The next day when checking the herd, three cows were found dead. After the father examined the carcasses, he saw they were completely void of blood.

In the summer of 2007 I had the wonderful opportunity to interview in person 99 year old Geraldine Perkins, out of Corona, New Mexico. Geraldine was a pharmacist in Corona back in 1947, when the Roswell Incident occurred. She personally knew some of the key individuals who were directly associated with that event like, Mac Brazel and Dee Proctor. She said her pharmacy store had one of only three long distance telephone lines in the town, and Mac Brazel probably used it to set up an appointment with the Roswell Sheriff to show him the debris he had found at the debris site.

I had heard that while the debris was present and even after it was removed from its scattered location that horses and live-stock refused to cross the area for a few years. Something about that debris spooked the animals. So I asked Geraldine, “Do you remember anything unusual pertaining to animals around the same time-frame people were talking about the flying saucer crash in July 1947?” I initially asked this question pertaining to the animals at the debris site, but got an unexpected answer.

Geraldine remembered a concerned rancher coming into her pharmacy store with a very unusual question. He asked her if she had heard about some cattle whose hides had turned bleach white, and if her store had any type of medication for that. Geraldine remembers this because, not only was she a pharmacist, but her store also carried essential medical supplies for the local rancher’s lives stock. This particular question was so strange that one threatening possibility could be a viral epidemic in the area. She quickly asked the rancher where this had happened, and he replied, west of Socorro, on the Plains of San Agustin, New Mexico.

Now for readers who follow the story about the 1947 Roswell incident, you might have heard there is a suspected second crash site which occurred on the Plains of San Agustin. UFO researchers Stanton Friedman and Chuck Wade, hold fast to this theory. The story goes; two or more craft were flying in formation near Roswell the night of the first week of July in 1947 and collided due to atmospheric conditions combined with the microwave radar used while tracking them. Another theory is, they were actually brought down by the microwave radar system used by simply turning up the radar intensity and using it as a weapon to disrupt navigational controls. Bottom line? There’s a possibility of a second crash on the Plains of San Agustin and Geraldine Perkins’ remembers cows were reported turning bleach white in that area. She couldn’t remember if the animals had survived the event, just that a couple of ranchers were concerned about a possible viral epidemic.

So is there a tie between the two events? Cows found bleach white in an area of a supposed second UFO crash in 1947? Were these animals associated with the strange animal mutilation phenomenon still going on today? How about Animal Mutilations in general? Some say they are directly related to UFOs and Aliens! Craft and unusual balls of light have been seen in areas of the mutilations, as recently as 2016 in one of my cases. Sometimes un-marked helicopters have been seen afterwards as if the occupants are running their own post-investigation. No human evidence has ever been found causing these mutilations, and I can personally attest to that, because I’ve investigated multiple animal mutilations cases along with local law enforcement. So who is the culprit? Some unknown natural predator lurking around in the darkness of night, or could it be, some sort of an Alien Feast.

Tom DeLonge Exhibits His Naiveté Re Ufology in Joe Rogan Interview

Tom DeLonge Exhibits His Naiveté Re Ufology in Joe Rogan Interview

Tom Delonge has been interviewed by Joe Rogan about Delonge’s new company / UFO research on “The Joe Rogan Experience”,see below:
Isaac Koi
The UFO Chronicles
10-29-17

At 1 hour 2 minutes 42 seconds, Delonge was asked where the Greys (which DeLonge said are androids) come from and Delgonge said he has “never asked” but “I do know that there’s connections to – man you wouldn’t even fucking believe it, I’ll tell you – to Atlantis … and that’s why … on the Roswell wreckage there is Greek writing…it’s online … ” telling people to look up “Roswell I-beam” to see it. (The relevant photo is part of the alien autopsy footage…).

At 1 hour 7 minutes 4 seconds, Delonge states that Zecharia Sitchin was the “closest thing we’ve got”.

At 1 hour 17 minutes 52 seconds Delonge confirms that he subscribes to the idea that human beings are the product of genetic engineering, saying that Garry Nolan is the person to ask about this. (Delonge returned to the theme at 1 hour 20 minutes 30 seconds, stating that at some point in history someone came here and “tampered with existing creatures and made us” and “upgraded us”). I’ve asked Garry Nolan for his comments

At 1 hour 19 minutes 3 seconds Delonge states that “they” had found a human footprint had been found that is “like” 100 million years old which threw everything upside down, that he wouldn’t doubt at all that people walked with dinosaurs and that there have been cycles of civilizations. DeLonge said that people on the inside know this.

At 40 minutes 10 seconds, DeLonge talks about being able to show a craft using “the power behind the atom”. He then plays the video below (at 41 minutes 58 craft). He says this is the craft in his book. He talks about this video being “leaked on purpose” and that the craft is “pretty big”. He says it is “not alien per se” but built off technology “that came from there”. The interviewer says this looks “so fake” (at 43 minutes 3 seconds). DeLonge’s response is that you can find more videos on Youtube. I wrote about the relevant video of a triangular craft back in 2009, after someone in England had claimed to have taken the video in Dudley – but one of the problems with that story was it had circulated the year before as being taken over Paris. So, which story does DeLonge believe? Or does he believe that the same footage (including the buildings…) was taken over two different countries? At least one of the stories associated with the video is a hoax. Why not both? Most of the people that commented on the video in 2008 and again in 2009 thought it was a fairly transparently CGI, i.e. Computer Generated Imagery, and posted reasons for that conclusion, see links below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXsZRc-cdGw

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lG9XJl10ZQk

Those reasons were not mentioned by DeLonge when talking about this video, nor indeed was the existence of CGI when he referred to videos on Youtube Unfortunately, Delonge’s discussion of this video simply does not address the possibility of any hoax, even when the interviewer expressly raises this.

Air Force Denies Close Encounters of the Roswell Kind

October 2017 Roswell Article

The following, is an article I wrote for the Roswell Daily Record news paper, Roswell, New Mexico, which was published on Thursday, October 5th, 2017.

The movie, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, originally released in November of 1977, has become a cult classic not only to UFO investigators like myself, but non-enthusiasts alike. Written and directed by Steven Spielberg, a self-proclaimed ufologist, the movie follows the life of an Indiana electrical lineman, Roy Neary, who had his own UFO encounter. 2017 marks the movie’s 40th anniversary with a special re-release at selected movie theaters last August, and a 40th anniversary Blu-Ray edition. Many question; as fantastic as this movie was/is, was the concept based on fiction or… non-fiction?

In July of 1947, something, which is still being debated today, crashed outside of Roswell on some remote ranch land. My investigations indicated, a rancher, his son, and his son’s friend came across debris from some type of aircraft crash while checking on their sheep after a horrific thunder storm the night before. What is debatable after all these years is, exactly what that debris was? What’s even more debatable is, the four foot tall occupants that were seen at the impact site some 17 miles from the ranchers debris site! Grey Aliens!

On July 8th 1947, Roswell Army Airfield put out a press release stating it captured a Flying Saucer on a ranch in the Roswell region. Later the press release was retracted from a Fort Worth, Texas, Army Airfield base stating it was a weather balloon. Later, as recently as 1994, the Air Force once again retracted the story, now stating the weather balloon was actually a high altitude balloon chain with special electronics that could detect nuclear-test blasts from foreign countries. Even later in June of 1997, the Air Force came out once again stating, the bodies that were seen at the alleged crash site were six feet tall test dummies being thrown out of airplanes. However these test dummies weren’t actually used in New Mexico until 1953, so if any type of humanoids lying on the desert floor were observed, it wasn’t in 1947, the Air Force claimed, it was really 1953. So basically the Air Force said the observers must have their dates wrong. Hmm…

Or… Maybe there was a time-phase-slip phenomenon that caused test dummies that were thrown out of airplanes in 1953 to travel back in time to 1947, lose about 3 feet in height, thus resembling four foot, four finger creatures with large heads and elongated eyes, which some people actually saw! Hey, that could happen… Yeah, maybe in the movies.

Speaking of movies, back to “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.” The movie title was derived from UFO researcher, J. Allen Hynek’s 1972 book, “The UFO Experience.” Part two of the book, “The Data and the Problem”, discussed six different types of UFO encounters which include; Nocturnal Lights, UFO’s Seen in the Daytime, Radar-Visual UFO Reports, and finally, Close Encounters of the First, Second, and Third Kind.

J. Allen Hynek, was a professor of astronomy at Ohio State University and served as the astronomical consultant to the Air Force’s UFO research projects; Project Sign (1947-1949), Project Grudge (1949-1952) and Project Blue Book (1952-1969). His major role for the Air Force was to debunk the UFO reports he investigated by explaining them away as some type of natural phenomenon like Venus or even the mythical, swamp gas scenario. Through all the years and sighting reports he investigated, Dr. Hynek turned from a skeptic and debunker to a believer. As a result, his Air Force contract was canceled and he ultimately started “CUFOS”, the Center for UFO Studies.

His book, “The UFO Experience,” categorized Close Encounters of the “First Kind” as very brilliant light or lights that are close to the observers less than 500 feet away. The “Second Kind” entails a UFO- type craft that leaves a visible record of its visit or encounter with human observers. The “Third Kind” is when the presence of animated creatures are reported. Animated creatures in this case refer to humanoid creatures or robots, as opposed to creatures that are computer generated.

Now the movie itself goes beyond “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” into “Close Encounters of the Fourth Kind,” which is an expansion on Dr. Hynek’s scale by his good friend and fellow UFO researcher, Jacques Vallee. Now known as the Vallee Classification, which many mainstream UFO organizations follow, “The Fourth Kind” is when the witness has been abducted or taken by the aliens. This last classification stands out very clearly at the end of the movie when human occupants are released from the mother craft. Richard Dreyfuss’s character, Roy Neary, goes into the craft by his own submission, which doesn’t follow the Vallee Classification. We’ll just have to call that, “Close Encounters of the Roy Kind.”

Most people who aren’t familiar with Ufology seem to think Steven Spielberg came up with the four foot Grey Alien design for the movie. However, research and eye witness testimony shows the little Grey Aliens seen in the movie were seen back in 1947 at Roswell. It’s possible that J. Allen Hynek, who was technical advisor for the movie, had some input on that. And the cover-ups? The movie used some type of nerve gas scenario from a train wreck, whereas with Roswell, it was the Air Force retracting multiple stories before finally claiming some people can’t tell the difference between 1947 and 1953! Either way, this year Roswell celebrated the 70th anniversary of the 1947 UFO event, and still today, relatives of eye witnesses are coming forward and fueling the fire in favor of something other than a balloon chain hitting the desert. My question is, when will the Air Force finally retract their last explanation and finally admit that people in and around Roswell really did have their own, “Close Encounters of the Roswell Kind.”

Update on former deputy sheriff’s Roswell UFO sighting claims

By Irena Scott PhD & Philip Mantle

Philip Mantle and I released the testimony of a new Roswell witness, the late Deputy Sheriff Charles Forgus, in the new book, UFOs TODAY, 70 Years of Lies, Misinformation and Government Cover-Up, in June 2017. Deputy Forgus thought that he had witnessed the UFO crash at Roswell in 1947. He had been the Deputy Sheriff in Big Springs, Texas, after serving in the military during WWII.

He was en-route to Roswell with the Sheriff to pick up a prisoner. When they approached the Roswell area, they heard about the crash on the police radio and were able to find the roads to this area. When they arrived, they observed the recovery of a 100-foot diameter round craft and four strange-looking dead bodies before being told to leave the area by the military. This testimony was given to a US private investigator by the name of Deanna Short in 1999. Unfortunately, she has also passed away. There is a video interview of Deputy Forgus where he details these events which runs for approximately 16 minutes.

Thus, the crash might have happened in 1947, which was the time that Deputy Forgus recalled that it was.

Glen said that Charles was very straight arrow and not impressed by false knowledge. He was a no-nonsense type of person, having been in law enforcement. He had been a police officer and in the military. Glen looked up to his father as a John Wayne kind of hero. During the war, Charles was in the army but on loan to the Navy and was a deep-sea diver. Charles and his crew would dive down and weld patches on the sunken ships so they could refloat them and get them out of the harbour. When MacArthur made his reappearance to the Philippians, there had been a lot of fighting and there were a lot of ships sunk in the harbour. One of the ships settled on a reef, and the wave action would rock it. The ship slipped off the reef, squashed him in the mud, and it took three days to get him out.

Forgus’ Army discharge papers.

One main thing Glen emphasized was that his father was very honest and ethical. He was definitely not the kind of person who would make up a lie. Glen gave the same impression–he was very knowledgeable about current news and events and very civic minded. He had an electric car and powered it using a wind turbine power generator.

Thus the possibility exists that Deputy Charles Forgus did see the crash in the time frame that he reported. Charles had said that neither he nor the person he was with talked about it much, and this was likely because no one had heard of UFOs or Roswell at that time, which might help to further date the event. In addition, he did not recognize the uniforms of the attendant soldiers as Air Force, which did not did not become a separate military service until September 1947.

When we released the original information regarding the late Deputy Charles Forgus we were criticised far and wide despite the fact that we also pointed out the number of discrepancies in the testimony on tape. One well-known Roswell researcher simply labelled the testimony from Deputy Forgus as a lie. Now, we have information from a nephew and the son of this witness the latter of whom supports his late fathers story. Do doubt we will still be criticized but I think it is fair to say that we have now been vindicated in releasing this information and to continue to look for more.

Hocus Pocus: The Roswell Slides Return

Hocus Pocus: The Roswell Slides Return

A mainstream media piece by The Guardian from the UK is worth a look for it’s portrayal of one of ufology’s biggest embarrassments. “The Curious Case Of The Alien In The Photo And A Mystery That Took Years To Solve,” written by Les Carpenter, a sports journalist, it sympathetically presents the Roswell Slides story from the POV of the promoter of the events, Adam Dew. There, Dew finally names and discloses the role of his silent partner, Joseph Beason. I’m not sure just why the story was newsworthy at this late date, but it does contain a few new bits, chiefly quotes from the perpetrators, and is the first interview with Dew since the events. It’s a nice

piece, but there are a few things that need to be clarified, and a few errors that need to be corrected.

Don Schmitt & Tom Carey
I was struck by the lack citation of sources in the article, or links to the source material, but the narrative is more accurate than not. The coverage of the deblurring of the Slides is shortchanged and there’s a only a brief mention of the Roswell Slides Research Group and Nab Lator (who is called Neb). Instead, the story is all about how Adam Dew was drawn into the circus, and how two Roswell ufologists let belief lead their investigation.

Hocus Pocus?

The ufologists in the story, Tom Carey and Donald Schmitt, look bad, making unsubstantiated accusations that they were victims. “It was a very sophisticated hoax,” Carey says. “Dew manipulated the slides. The one clue we couldn’t figure out was the placard, but they played hocus pocus with the placard. We were given something that had been altered.” The story says, “Humiliated, Carey and Schmitt apologized to the Roswell Slides debunkers.” No. RSRG member Tim Printy responded on Facebook, saying,

“It states that Carey and Schmitt apologized to the Roswell slides debunkers. I don’t remember that apology. If it was given, it was some vague comment they made with little meaning. I also see that Carey and Schmitt still believe that the slides were altered by Dew. This is a lie and they are just fooling themselves. Rudiak claimed he could deblur his placard and we know that we could deblur Bragalia’s. The problem with Carey and Schmitt is they believe they were too smart to not figure it out. Instead, they were just stupid UFOlogists stuck in the will to believe in the myth they created.”

Printy is correct. Carey and Schmitt’s claim that they received deceptive, manipulated versions of the scans is false. On the April 20, 2015, KGRA show, Fade to Black, a few weeks before BeWitness, Tom Carey said he was sent a high resolution version of the two Slides, and he describes both pictures in detail, the placard and the man and woman seen behind the body. (In other words, the museum setting was pictured.)

Video: “Ep. 241 FADE to BLACK Jimmy Church w/ Tom Carey, UFO Roswell Slides LIVE on air”
Carey, on receiving the Slides by email: 131:30, describing Slides images: 137 and 140.

Roswell Slides Placard AKA Mummified Body of Two-Year-Old Boy

Portions of those same scans were sent to David Rudiak and Anthony Bragalia in an attempt to read the placard. After the RSRG deblurred the placard, those scans were made public, and they could be deblurred and read just as easily. The charges of digital manipulation of the slides against Dew and Beason are false. However Dew admits to exploitation being “guilty of not discouraging the talk [of it being alien]. It was good for the project.”

BeWitness, Dew's clip of the Nov. 2013 meeting in Chicago
BeWitness, Dew’s clip of the Nov. 2013 meeting in Chicago

The story confirms that after the deblurring, it was Beason who the RSRG was corresponding with, not Dew and Beason who posted at Slidebox Media the RSRG were “internet UFO Trolls” hoaxing the placard. It was later toned down, and proven to be false, but no apology from Beason was offered. The Slidebox site, http://www.slideboxmedia.com, is now dead, but the YouTube account remains. It’s reported that “Beason has moved on.”

The most glaring distortion in the Guardian itself is the claim that the show was a last-minute 2015 decision made as a last resort:

“By early 2015, Beason and Dew knew they had no choice but to reveal the slides. The pressure to do so was extreme and Dew needed money to fund his documentary… The only appealing proposal came from Jamie Maussan, an investigative journalist based in Mexico City.”

This is inaccurate. At BeWitness, Dew showed a clip documenting how the deal deal was brokered in November 2013, with Carey, Schmitt and Maussan traveling to Chicago for the signing the partnership arrangement.

Old Dogs, Old Tricks

The best quote in the Guardian story is how the investigation went off the rails. The pictures looked alien to them, and after pursuing details on Hilda Blair Ray’s past, Dew said, “You start to fill in the blanks.” Those blanks were filled with wishful thinking instead of evidence.

BeWitness promoter Jaime Maussan didn’t get much coverage in the article, and it’s almost sad that “World-famous researcher” Anthony Bragalia who dreamed up much of the Slides narrative was not even mentioned.

If at first you don't succeed...
If at first you don’t succeed…

Jaime Maussan has never given up on the Slides and continues to promote them, and has since used some of the same “experts” to promote a series of Peruvian mummies as alien bodies. The enterprise was was heavily promoted and exploited by the subscription-based video service Gaia, that bills itself as “a member-supported conscious media company.” For further details, see The Atlantic’s article, “The Racism Behind Alien Mummy Hoaxes by Christopher Heaney,” Aug. 1, 2017

The new Guardian piece closes by saying that Dew intends to complete his documentary, Kodachrome, but otherwise life goes on. Of Carey and Schmitt, Dew says, “They got their hopes up,” but “will never get the answers they are looking for.”

There’s an interesting question that may not have been asked. Let’s assume Beason was sincere in approaching Carey and Schmitt, asking “I want you to help verify” the Slides. If so, doesn’t Slidebox Media, LLC have a case against Carey and Schmitt for failure to perform the contracted duty? None of the evidence produced in support of the Slides as alien turned out to be accurate.
For an insider’s look of the story of the investigation and exposure of the BeWitness fiasco, there’s my essay on the Roswell Slides Research Group in UFOs: Reframing the Debate, “What’s Wrong With This Picture?”Further details on that in a previous article, “UFOs: Reframing the Roswell Slides Fiasco.”

Roswell alien autopsy: A summary of the truth behind the video that shocked the world

It was 1993 when I was first contacted by London businessman Ray Santilli. It was l995 when Santilli’s controversial ‘Alien Autopsy Film’ was released around the world. I have covered events surrounding this film in many publications around the world and in my new book ‘ROSWELL ALIEN AUTOPSY – The Truth Behind the Film That Shocked the World’ so forgive me if I don’t cover old ground here. All the relevant details of my previous research can be located on my website at: www.beyondroswell.com.

On June 22nd 2007, I travelled by train to London to meet up with Ray Santilli and his business partner Gary Shoefield. We had a pleasant lunch together and Ray Santilli showed me some frames of film encased in a type of perspex material. Santilli claimed these were original vintage 1947 frames of film from the alien autopsy. As they came with no official seal of approval or had been authenticated by anyone they were useless.

From left: Shoefield, Philip Mantle (Author), Ray Santilli

Within a couple of days of this meeting my friend and colleague Russel Callaghan, editor of UFO DATA magazine, had a phone call from a man by the name of Spyros Melaris. This man claimed he had lead the team that faked the whole alien autopsy film. He was a magician and filmmaker and he was now ready to spill the beans. He gave Russel a run down of the who, what, why and where of the whole affair. Because of my involvement in this affair Russel was soon on the phone to me with the details. It wasn’t long before I spoke to Spyros Melaris myself and he was telling me things in great detail. During the next few weeks I had several telephone conversations with Spyros Melaris and also put him in contact with US TV producer Robert (Bob) Kiviat at his request. Spyros was considering the best way to go public with his story, he had a book planned and thought that a TV documentary might also be a good idea.

Along with my colleagues Russel Callaghan, Michael Buckley and Steve Johnston, I was one of the co-organisers of the UFO DATA annual conference. It just so happened, that the 2007 conference had a loose Roswell theme to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Roswell Incident. My colleagues and I discussed the possibility of asking Spyros Melaris to make his first public statement on this whole thing at our conference and eventually he agreed. The conference itself was held over the weekend of October 20th & 21st 2007 in Pontefract, West Yorkshire. A packed audience saw Spyros take the stage on Sunday October 21st. I had met him in person for the first time the night before at the hotel and I made loose arrangements to formally interview him at his home later in the year. As promised, Spyros took to the stage and told of his involvement in the making of the alien autopsy film. A small few members of the audience were rather upset to hear this but the vast majority were fascinated by what he had to say.

I made arrangements to visit the home of Spyros Melaris on November 16th 2007 and I drove to his house in Hertfordshire with my partner Christine. Before the formal audio-taped interview began we had lunch with Spyros and his lovely wife Anne. Over lunch Spyros showed us some of the documentary evidence he has to support his claims. This included his diary from l995, hand drawn sketches of the alien, a full list of hand painted story board images of the whole alien autopsy film, original fax messages from Kodak in the USA providing copies of l947 fill canister labels, and a large portfolio of research material. This was mainly of vintage (l940’s) US military vehicles and some vintage US military medical photographs. The interview itself lasted around two hours and we only touched the tip of the iceberg. The full interview can be located online at: http://www.outtahear.com/beyond_updates/index.html (Alien Autopsy Information section). I would like to thank my colleague Steve Johnston for transcribing this interview in full. The following is based on that interview.

Spyros Melaris (right) with Philip Mantle in 2007. (Credit: Philip Mantle)

Who is Spyros Melaris?

As the name might give it away Spyros was originally born in Cyprus. As a boy he was taught a magic trick by his grandfather and his love of magic was born. The other passion as a boy growing up in the UK was film making. At school he told his careers officer that he wanted to be an actor but this was discouraged. A proper job was what he should have. So a proper job he took and after leaving school became an apprentice trained motor mechanic. However, his love of magic and film making eventually won over and he eventually became a magician and a filmmaker. He now owns his own TV studio in London and makes TV shows for all the major networks in the UK and independent production companies alike. In short, in his owns words, we make programmes for “anyone who books us.”

How He Met Ray Santilli

In January 1995 he was to attend the MIDEM music industry event in Cannes, France. He was taking a film crew there and had some spare time on his hands so he sent fax messages to 4 production companies picked at random from a media directory. He basically asked them if they wanted to hire him and his crew while in Cannes. One of these happened to be the Merlin Group owned by Ray Santilli. Spyros and Ray Santilli had a few telephone conversations but did not meet and arranged to meet in Cannes. By pure chance they bumped into each other at a restaurant in Cannes and it was here that Ray Santilli fist told Spyros Melaris that he had obtained film footage of an alien. Holding back a smirk Spyros asked Santilli if he was serious and he replied he was, not only that, he wanted Spyros to make a documentary from this footage. They eventually agreed to meet at Ray Santilli’s office back in London. A few days later Spyros kept his appointment with Santilli at his office in London. Here he met an almost distraught Ray Santilli who told him he’d bought this film but it had turned out to be very poor quality. Spyros was shown what has become known as the ‘tent footage’ and he immediately recognised it as been shot on video. The tape he was shown was on VHS format. Santilli seemed surprised that he had recognised it as being shot on video so quickly and he realised the game was up. Again in Spyros’s own words “If I can’t get it past this guy, I’m not going to get it past anyone else. He realised it was game up. That’s when the meeting ended. I thought the guy’s mad. He’s trying a fast one. I thought it was over at that point.”

So How Did The Idea of a Fake Film Come About?

Melaris met up with his friend and colleague John Humphreys. Humphreys is a Royal Academy trained sculptor whose work had sometimes overlapped into film and TV special effects. Melaris and Humphreys had known each other for a long time and had worked on a number of things together in the past. Melaris simply put the idea to Humphreys, “John, do you fancy sculpting an alien?” Melaris told Humphreys of his meeting with Santilli and basically came up with the idea of making it. They talked things over from a legal point of view and how it might help them break into other projects, even Hollywood. The idea was to make it, release it to the world, and then make a second programme shortly after showing how they did it. Humphreys agreed and Melaris pitched the idea to Santilli. Santilli looked like a man reborn and agreed. The budget put forward by Melaris was about £30,000 and it was Santilli’s business partner and friend Volker Spielberg who put up the money. The funding was in place, contracts and a confidentiality agreement were signed and the ball was rolling.

The Team Behind The Making of The Film

First off there was Spyros Melaris. He designed and directed the film, instructed and paid the rest of the team, made the autopsy table along with many of the other props, he also made the ‘contamination suits’ as well as obtain the props and cameras. The main researcher behind it all was Spyros’s then girlfriend Geraldine. She was the one who checked the medical books, spoke with surgeons and pathologists and she even played the part of the nurse in the film. Geraldine is not her real name as she wishes to remain anonymous. John Humphreys of course made the alien’s bodies. The mould was actually made from John’s ten year-old son who was quite tall. As a trained sculptor Humphreys had also studied anatomy so he was the man who played the surgeon in the film. Another friend of Spyros’s was Greg Simmons. He was seen occasionally in the film in one of the contamination suits and he also played the part of the soldier in the Debris Footage. Gareth Watson, a colleague of Santilli’s and Shoefield’s was the man in the surgical mask behind the glass, and finally Spyros’s brother Peter helped behind the scenes. The set was built in Geraldine’s house in Camden in London. The property was in the process of being converted into three flats (apartments) at the time and was therefore empty. The props were obtained from someone Spyros knew in the USA. She was not told what they were for and were all ordered separately and delivered to different addresses so as not to arouse suspicion. The camera’s were obtained by Spyros; one bought and one borrowed from a friend.

Why There Are Two Separate Autopsy Films

According to Spyros the first ‘Alien Autopsy’ film went pretty much as planned. However, upon completion Geraldine noticed that a few of the medical procedures were not correct. They therefore had to make another creature and film another one. Apparently Santilli was ready for packing it all in at this point as there was no more money in the budget to film it again. They persevered and made another one at Spyros’s cost the very next day. This too was not without problems. The foam latex used to fill the dummy had not worked right and an air bubble had left a hollow space in the creature’s leg. Humphreys was despatched to the local butchers by Spyros to get a leg joint of a sheep. This was inserted into the hollow part in the alien’s right leg, a few other things were added, the outside of the leg was gently burnt with a blowtorch and hey presto, the leg wound. Some of the inner organs were manufactured by Melaris, and animal organs were also used for the alien’s innards, although altered with a scalpel and coated with latex. The alien’s brain was actually made from three sheep’s brains and part of a pig’s brain cast in gelatine. This is how there came to be two separate autopsy films one of which was shown in its entirety, while the second one made, has only ever been released in part.

The Wreckage and I-beams

These were all designed by Spyros himself. At the October 2007 UFO DATA conference Spyros showed me how he had designed the ‘writing’ on them and what it said. The wreckage was then manufactured by John Humphreys, Spyros and his brother Peter. He told me that he based it on Greek lettering, a bit of ancient Egyptian stylising and some artistic license. On the main large beams, if translated correctly, reads ‘FREEDOM’. Spyros thought this a fitting name for an alien spacecraft. While designing the letters which spell the word ‘FREEDOM’, Spyros noticed that if the word is turned upside down, the word ‘VIDEO’ could be seen. He adjusted some of the letters to better facilitate this, so the piece would throw a little red herring into the mix. The translation of the smaller beam is being held back for Spyros’s book.

The Cameraman’s Home Video Interview

According to Melaris, Ray Santilli was put under a lot of pressure by various parties to arrange an interview with the fictitious cameraman he allegedly bought the film from. Of course, according to Melaris, there was no such person, so he came up with the idea of creating this aspect of the whole affair as well. The basic scenario is that Melaris flew to Los Angeles and met up with Santilli’s partner Gary Shoefield. Melaris wanted to find an eighty year old tramp on the streets of L.A., pay him a few hundred dollars, put him in front of a camera and ask him to read from a script. Santilli and Shoefield were nervous, and not sure this would work but Spyros was confident he could pull this off, and went ahead. He found an old guy living rough on the street, offered him $500 and a night in the hotel and he duly agreed. Again, by pure chance the chap had been an actor many years ago. Melaris took his name and the name of a movie he had appeared in. These details will be released in his book. He cleaned him up, gave him a shave, and added a bit of make up and a false prosthetic nose and chin and the job was done. The man himself did not know what he was reading or where it was going to be used. There was little chance that he would see the broadcast either. No one would recognise him in a thousand years. And they never did. This film was delivered in person in New York to US TV producer Bob Kiviat by Gary Shoefield and a man claiming to be the cameraman’s son. Eventually the film in question was broadcast on TV in Japan only and from there it was copied and distributed to UFO researchers around the world. The trick worked, no one has identified the man in question, and Melaris claims he is the only one who can do this.

The Crash Site

There are a number of people who believe the alien autopsy film is authentic, not because of the film itself but because of the crash site. Ray Santilli released details, supposedly from his cameraman, as to where the incident took place in the desert. How did this come about? Well, according to Spyros this was quite simple. In l995, he flew to Roswell. Here he interviewed many local people including Loretta Proctor. Mrs. Proctor was the neighbour of rancher Mac Brazel and it was she who suggested that Mac take some of the UFO debris into town after he found it. Spyros also met and hired private pilot Rodney Corn. He asked corn to fly him over the UFO crash site, to which he replied “which one.” There are in fact at least three such sites. So, Spyros flew over all three of them, filming as he went. Rodney Corn was able to show Spyros a great deal from the air, far better than would have been possible on foot. This included small dirt roads and long forgotten landmarks. Before the interview took place Spyros also informed me that he obtained both old and new maps of the area. All of this information was handed to Ray Santilli and it was Santilli, not Spyros, who then put it all together to make a location for a nonexistent crash site.

The Grand Plan

I asked Spyros what was the grand plan. The research was done, the film was made, so what next. Apparently it was a rather simple plan. To release the film to a broadcaster, ask them to investigate and see what happens. They were confident that it would not be exposed as a fake. Then, after a few months the plan was to hold their hands up and tell all. The reason this didn’t happen was money. Spyros had signed a confidentiality agreement with Ray Santilli and Santilli was still adamant that he needed to recoup his initial investment allegedly paid for the tent footage. Santilli told Melaris that he had invested a lot of money on this film and he must recoup that before they were to go public. Santilli reminded Spyros that he was bound by the confidentiality agreement and he was not to say or do anything until Santilli said so. Apart from a cheque for about £10,000, which Spyros split with his team, no royalties were ever paid. Santilli told him that due to the fact that he had stated publicly that it was a military film, that it had simply been copied by third parties without permission and used without payment as the people who were using the film believed that the copyright was vested with the US Military and not with Santilli. Eventually time went on and Spyros just got on with life. He was constantly working on other projects with Santilli and earning a living and the alien autopsy film was all but forgotten.

Going Public

The one thing that I first asked Spyros was why was it that he had decided to go public with this information now. It was twelve years since the alien autopsy film hit the headlines. Melaris stuck to his confidentiality agreement. From a legal point of view if he broke it he could have been sued. However, in 2005 he was approached by Santilli and Shoefield to be involved in the movie version of this whole affair. He asked both if they would now tell the true story and reveal that it was all a fake but they said no, they were going to maintain that they really did have original film. Again, Santilli and Shoefield stated that there was no money in it and that they were doing it for “a bit of fun” when pressed they admitted that both Santilli and Shoefield would get paid a percentage of the profits, there was no such offer for Melaris. Melaris declined their offer. He left that meeting under the impression that the movie was not going to be made. However, the movie was made and distributed by Warner Bros and so Melaris felt that he was now able to speak as the story was now in the public domain.

The Doubters

To round off the interview I asked Spyros Melaris what he had to say to the doubters out there, those that believe the alien autopsy film is the genuine article. I’m not going to paraphrase this; instead I will use his words in full:

PM: Time’s against us, Spyros. I’ll ask one last question. There are those out there who believe in this film and Santilli 100% and they think that you’re some kind of pathological liar, playing devil’s advocate here, so please don’t be offended.

SM: No. Go ahead.

PM: What would you say if you could say one thing to the doubters out there? Is there any one thing that you can say that would say to them Spyros Melaris is who he says he is and has made this film?

SM: I don’t think that there’s any doubt that somebody made it today. That’s fair to say that somebody made the film and even Santilli said it’s a fake, but it was made from original film. I think that’s really the question. The question isn’t whether I made it because I can prove I made it. John Humphries will tell you I made it. Ray would probably tell you I made it! He couldn’t deny it. There’s too much evidence. The question is did I make it from original film? And the simple answer to that is no. There was never any original film other than the tent footage. I’ve never seen any other film. Ray maintains that he’s got original film. My question to Ray is how would that film marry with what I made? It can’t. I haven’t actually seen the film. Now you may say, “Maybe you’re lying and you did see the film and you made it.”

The story’s a bigger story if there was a real film. There would be more money in it. There wouldn’t be a reason for me and Ray to be parted. Why would we fall out? The common sense has got to come into the argument. I’m part of something as big as real film of a real alien. Why would I jeopardise being part of that and go off on my own? There’s no reason to. That’s the first thing.

The second thing. I promise you, something happened in Roswell. I’m not an easy person… I’m a sceptic. I’m not an easy person to convince. Thirty people that I talked to out there, clever people, doctors, lecturers, all sorts of people tell me they saw something. And I believe them. Something happened. A lot of ordinary people. Something happened. So, I don’t think there’s dispute about whether or not something happened in Roswell or other sightings or whether or not everything’s fake. No, I don’t think everything’s fake. I do know this is. I also know that if Ray had original film, he’d be jumping through hoops to let you test it. I’m sorry, but that’s what you would do. You would say, “Give me billions of pounds for this.” That’s what you would say. You would say, “I’ve got nothing to worry about. The cameraman doesn’t want to speak, but look at the film.” That’s what you’d do! That’s what you would do.

PM: Say no more.

[END OF INTERVIEW]

Once again I would like to reiterate that this is only part of what Spyros Melaris had to tell me. The full-unedited interview can be found in the alien autopsy section of our web site at: http://www.outtahear.com/beyond_updates/index.html.

Checking The Facts

So how do we check that what Spyros Melaris is telling us is correct? It is no easy task I can assure you. The documentary material shown to me by Spyros is intriguing but not proof positive. My colleague Mark Center in the USA checked the private pilot Rodney Corn for me and he does exist. Mark spoke to him on the phone but he has no recollection of being hired by Spyros Melaris. This could be because he was hired by Geraldine, and we are talking about an event which happened over 12 years ago.

At the UFO DATA conference in October 2007 was German researcher Michael Hesemann. Michael was also one of the speakers that weekend. Michael investigated the alien autopsy film from l995 through to l997 and believes it to be authentic. After the conference when Michael was back home in Germany he sent me an email that quite frankly left me stunned. He admitted for the first time that in l996 someone sent Michael an email telling him that Spyros Melaris was the hoaxer. Hesemann had never shared this information with anyone. I asked him what he did with it and he simply told me that he phoned Ray Santilli and asked him if he knew this man to which Santilli replied he did not. Michael told me he left it at that.

However, Spyros Melaris independently informed me that in l996 he had received a phone call from someone with a German accent asking him if he was the hoaxer and he of course denied it. He did not know who the caller was until he met Hesemann at our conference. I pressed Michael about this and eventually he admitted he did phone Spyros back in l996. Why Michael Hesemann never shared this information with anyone else is beyond me. In his defence, Michael has stated that there were others mentioned at the time and he did not want to spread false rumours, but these others names were circulated and eliminated. I have to be honest and say here and now that I cannot understand why Hesemann sat on this information and never told anyone. I leave it to you to make up your own mind.

A colleague of mine who is a veteran TV and movie special effects artist also took a look at the interview with Spyros. In his considered opinion the techniques and materials used by Melaris and his team to make the fake alien creature are 100% correct. There is no question in his mind that the dummies were made in the way described. He does have a few questions he’d like to ask, but these are purely little points of clarification and there is nothing wrong with what Melaris has had to say.

The other main person involved in all of this is of course US TV producer Bob Kiviat. Several years back my colleague Tim Mathews and I were tipped off about John Humphreys, Humphreys was part of the team and he made the dummies. Bob tried for years to get Humphreys on camera and make a TV documentary but all to no avail. Eventually, Bob did make a TV show for Channel 5 but without Humphreys in it. This was never broadcast. Both Humphreys and Melaris have spoken at length to Bob Kiviat about their involvement in this whole affair so I took the opportunity to ask Bob a few questions on December 4th 2007. This mini question and answer session is reproduced here in full:

Q: How many times did you speak with UK sculptor John Humphreys?

A: Once before the Ant & Dec movie came out. In approximately 2003. Once after that.

Q: Did Humphreys tell you on what he based the design for his alien creatures?

A: Yes, just on his own research, books and such. No other help.

Q: Did Humphreys ever see any original film, stills or otherwise?

A: No, never. He claimed it all came from his creative efforts and book research.

Q: During your conversations with Humphreys did he ever mention the name Spyros Melaris?

A: Yes. He said Spyros was the one who hired him for Santilli, who he met perhaps twice and came to the set once. All the money came through Spyros. Also, Spyros was the cameraman.

Q: Did Humphreys provide the names of anyone else involved. If yes what are those names?

A: No other names.

Q: Why was Humphreys looking to work with you on a documentary?

A: Yes, Humphreys wanted me to get him a network TV show based on his revelations that he made the autopsy footage, with Spyros acting as money man and cameraman, who he believed was working for Santilli.

Q: Was Humphreys going to tell all and sink the stories put out by Ray Santilli?

A: Yes, but until I got a commitment from a TV network and guaranteed money for his exclusive he kept much close to his chest.

Q: Did you speak to Humphreys agent/advisor?

A: Yes, his business manager was my main contact for all of 2003 and 2004, and it was he who informed me John was going to do the Ant & Dec movie, without giving me the details. There would also be a companion documentary “that would be my worst nightmare,” he said.

Q: If you did, what did he tell you about Humphreys involvement and reasons for wanting to spill the beans?

A: Instead of Humphreys spilling the beans to me, his manager clearly implied John had lost patience and saw a payday elsewhere – the movie, etc.

Q: You made a TV documentary for Channel 5 in 2006 in which I appeared, could you tell us why it was never broadcast?

Channel 5 was rushing instructions to my productions offices in L.A. from England telling me how the show needed to be styled, and they also wanted to move the airdate up to an almost impossible deadline. We were working around the clock already to appease the Channel 5 executive in charge when one of the top people at 5 actually listed the show in a TV guide of some sort. That’s when Gary Shoefield contacted 5 and falsely claimed Ray Santilli was involved in the ownership of my original Fox show, which the new 5 show was jumping off from. It was an outright fabrication, for my company has the only US copyright to the show AND THE ALIEN AUTOPSY FOOTAGE ITSELF!

While we were sorting through this false claim, we interviewed you. When the 5 executives saw you naming Humphreys as the guy who made the dummy and who was the key pro behind the footage, they wanted confirmation so they ILLEGALLY contacted Humphreys through a consulting producer. Humphreys freaked out, told them he wanted nothing to do with the 5 show and said he had to contact Warner Bros. Ultimately 5 reneged on their agreement with my distributor, my distributor did not fight for the airing, and this is how things were left. I’m still debating what course of action I can take to recover my substantial losses and damage!

Q: You have spoken on the telephone at length with Spyros Melaris. Are you convinced he is telling the truth?

A: For the most part, I can’t find any outlandish things that make his story unbelievable. But I do wonder how he could have been so naïve about the amount of money Santilli was making around the world. This part seems odd, as if he was playing dumb. On the contrary, he seems very bright. And if Ray gave him just enough work to keep him quiet afterward, I still wonder why he let all the other money go into Ray’s pocket without him demanding his share. This doesn’t add up, literally, pound for pound.

Q: You have been involved with the Alien Autopsy film since 1995, you have interviewed or spoken to most if not all the main players in it all, so what now is your conclusion?

A: I’m going to need more time to answer that question. Spryros’ actions or non actions in court will have a lot to do with this, and I’m looking into another intriguing angle that could impact my conclusions.

Robert Kiviat. End of interview.

It is clear from this brief interview with Bob Kiviat that there are slight differences between what John Humphreys says about his role in the faking of the film and what Melaris says. However, Humphreys does state quite clearly that it was Spyros Melaris who was the money man, it was Melaris who hired him on behalf of Santilli. Humphreys also confirms without any doubt that there never was any original film. It was a complete and utter fabrication.

I could go on but I think I’ve made my point. In l996, Spyros Melaris was outlined as the hoaxer to German researcher Michael Hesemann. In 2003, US TV producer Bob Kiviat spoke with UK sculptor John Humphreys who confirmed that Spyros was the man in charge and that there was no original film. In 2007, Spyros Melaris goes on the record for the first time and tells how it was all made. Well, perhaps not all. Spyros is holding back certain things for his book, which was supposed to be available in early 2008. And as for Ray Santilli, well he’s pretty quiet at the moment but I doubt if he will ever own up as he is quite simply in it too deep.

The long awaited book by Spyros Melaris ‘ALIEN AUTOPSY: The Myth Exposed’ comes with an accompanying DVD. It was originally scheduled to be released in 2008, but for a variety of reason it has been delayed with no firm date yet for its release.

Remember this Famous FBI UFO Memo?

Below is one of the most well-known FBI documents associated with UFOs. It’s known as the Hoover-Tolson (or, Ladd-Hoover) memo and is dated July 15, 1947. The chronological proximity to the Roswell case is, of course, what makes it famous. UFO researchers say it’s proof that the government retrieved a flying saucer from Roswell.

It isn’t. First, what some researchers interpret as “Sw” in Hoover’s handwriting isn’t “Sw” (for “Southwest”; i.e., New Mexico). It’s “La” for “Louisiana.” The disk also isn’t what you may have been led to think. Check out this link for what’s really going on.

Roswell Witness, Frankie Rowe Has Passed Away

Frankie Rowe

Frankie Rowe, who might well be the last of those who claimed to have handled debris from the Roswell UFO crash, has died. According to Don Schmitt, on Wednesday, July 26, she had surgery but was home on Friday, on the mend. In the afternoon, she mentioned to her daughter that she was feeling cold when she suddenly collapsed. The medics arrived in about five minutes and she was conscious when she was put in the ambulance. When she lost consciousness, they attempted three resuscitations but after the third, they realized there was little hope. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

A Different Perspective
7-30-17

I first met Frankie Rowe about a quarter of a century ago when Don Schmitt and I had just finished a presentation in Roswell. She had been in the audience and afterward talked to us briefly. We would meet with her many times over the years as she told of her experiences back in July 1947.

Dan Dwyer, Frankie’s father, on the far left.
There is no doubt that she had lived in Roswell at the time. Her father, Dan Dwyer, was a fire fighter, among other things. Frankie had told us that he had come home one day and told them about the crash and the creatures that he had seen. Dwyer died before any of us could interview him, but Frankie’s story was not stand alone. Frankie’s sister, Helen Cahill and former fire fighter J. C. Smith both said they had heard the story from Dwyer. Smith said that Dwyer had driven out to the crash site in his car rather than in equipment from the fire department.

Frankie said that she had been in Roswell and while at the fire department sometime later, a state trooper had stopped by. He said that he had a piece of the debris. Frankie described it as light weight and that it flowed like quicksilver.

Over the years she added few details telling us about a visit from a military officer ordering her to keep the tale to herself. Originally, she just said that the officer had told her that if she ever mentioned the story her mother and father would end up in Orchard Park, which had been a POW camp during the Second World War. Later it would seem the threats had been more violent and more direct.

One day she called me in a panic because she had had the telephone company out to repair her telephone. The man found what he thought to be a tap on her phone and Frankie was sure that the government was watching her now that she had told us about her experiences. We talked for about two hours. I don’t know if her phone had actually been tapped or if the repairman had misinterpreted something on the line. Whatever it was, Frankie was convinced that she was being monitored by the government.

I found her to be a kind lady who had an extraordinary experience. I don’t believe I ever heard her say anything negative about anyone, though in the Roswell case accusations were often thrown around. Once she had told us, that is Don and me, the full tale, she didn’t change the story. It had taken a while for her to trust us, but once she did, she confided in us and looked to us for help.

I last saw her a number of years ago at one of the more recent Roswell festivals. She was living in Roswell at the time and we had a nice chat. Later she would move to Breckenridge, Texas, where she died on July 28. She was 84.

Seventy Years After Government Report of Aliens, Roswell Draws UFO Faithful

Seventy Years After Government Report of Aliens, Roswell Draws UFO Faithful

ROSWELL — One hot day in early July 1947, rancher William “Mac” Brazel told Lincoln County Sheriff George Wilcox that he had found strange debris from some sort of aircraft crash at a remote site out in the desert, about 40 miles from Corona, N.M.
By Robert Nott
The New Mexican
7-2-17

The sheriff called military officials at the Roswell Army Air Field, and Maj. Jesse Marcel, an intelligence officer, went out to investigate.

Within a day, the U.S. Army Air Force sent out a news release announcing it had found the remnants of a flying saucer. The Roswell Daily Record’s headline July 8, 1947, said it all: “RAAF Captures Flying Saucer On Ranch in Roswell Region.” The nation, swept up by a series of reports on unexplained discs in the skies, was transfixed by the possibility of visitors from outer space.

[…]

As Roswell began commemorating the 70th anniversary of the crash and celebrating the museum’s 25th year, about 15,000 visitors converged on the town late last week and throughout the weekend for the 22nd annual UFO Festival.

Roswell: 70th anniversary and alleged new witness (VIDEO)

UFOs Today Book Cover 250The new book UFOs TODAY – 70 Years of Lies, Misinformation and Government Cover-Ups by Irena Scott PhD contains an amount of controversial and thought provoking information as the title of the book might suggest. If I were a gambling man I would bet on one piece of information in this book being the most controversial within its pages. With it being the 70th anniversary of the Roswell Incident, an event that many claim was the crash of a space vehicle from an ET origin, the news that an alleged new witness emerging might not be that big a surprise.

The Roswell File and Charles H. Forgus.

In 2012, I was contacted by a gentleman called Scott Ferguson. Scott was part of a production company called White Tiger Films. He explained to me that he had some information on the Roswell Incident that he would like me to take a look at. I had first to sign a non-disclosure agreement which I did.  Once this was signed I was sent what Scott called his ‘Roswell File’. He was looking to possibly make a movie based around this file and asked if I could help research the alleged witness. I of course agreed. The ‘Roswell File’ consisted of a transcript of an interview with the alleged witness Charles H. Forgus, a video interview with him and a photo as well. The story of how White Tiger Films obtained this material is I would say quite unique.

The witness to the Roswell crash scene was Deputy Sheriff Charles H Fogus of Howard County, Texas. He was interviewed in 1999 by Los Angeles private investigator Deanna Short. Deanna recorded the interview on video and later had a transcript done of the interview and completed her Agency report to verify facts at that time related to Charles Forgus and Sheriff Jess Slaughter – both of Howard County, Texas.

Deanna Bever and Charles Forgus circa 1999.

Deanna Bever and Charles Forgus circa 1999.

Sheriff Jess Slaughter and Deputy Sheriff Charles Fogus were allegedly travelling together in early July, 1947 from Texas to Roswell to pick up a prisoner when they happened on the Roswell crash scene in New Mexico. Both were there and were on an overlook to view the crash scene recovery by the Army.  I should note that according to Deanna’s daughter Mackenzie, Charles made a special effort to note to Deanna “not to believe what others will say – he and the Sheriff did witness the Roswell crash scene”.

Deanna is now deceased but her daughter Mackenzie Christian has kept Deanna’s files that include the Roswell case which includes the video interview. Robert Short is Deanna’s son. Both Mackenzie and Robert are themselves experienced investigators having worked along side there mom in years past.  Robert has taken up the work to investigate both Sheriff Jess Slaughter and Deputy Sheriff Charles Fogus.

In 1999 Deanna verified the background, including living relatives of both law enforcement individuals that existed at the time and documented that in her agency intelligence report.

I will producer here the transcript of the interview with Charles Forgus which was conducted in 1999. Some words have been redacted but not by me but by Deanna Bever.

LR: What I’m trying to do is pierce together……

CF: I was working for the Sheriff of . I was a Deputy there for Sheriff Slaughter, was back in the 40’s. We went to Roswell to pick up a prisoner. When we got there, the land was covered with soldiers. They were hauling a big, a creature. Hauling him away.

What I seen of him looked just like the one we see on television, with big eyes. There was a big round thing in the canyon. It was about 100 feet across. They put that on a truck and hauled it away. They wouldn’t let us get very close to it either. So we headed up to get the prisoner in Roswell and back to.

LR: So you were on your way from to Roswell to pick up a prisoner and you happened to be at that place……

CF: It already had crashed. They were taking them out. There were soldiers there….about 3 or 4 hundred of them. They wouldn’t let you get very close. They were keeping all the people away. People were coming out there.

LR: What did the saucer (we’ll call it) look like?

CF: It was a big round thing. Across the middle it was about 100 feet.

LR: Did you see any lights around it?

CF: No, they went out when it banged into the wall in the creek. It was like a mountain on the side of the creek.

LR: Did you see any creatures: How many did you see?

CF: Yeh, I saw them. I think I seen about four (of them).

LR: were they covered up?

CF: Mostly. I saw the legs and feet on some of them.

LR: What did the feet look like? Do you remember?

CF: They looked like our feet.

LR: Could you figure how tall they were? They were laying flat, Right?

CF: Yeh, There is one thing I do remember. The Great Father didn’t just make this planet…. He made all of them. He put beings on these planets just like he put us on this one. They’re smarter then we are. They can get from there to here, but we can’t get from here to there.

(Note: CF is rather deaf. He wears two hearing aid appliances in this ears, so he answers my questions as follows …)

LR: Why do you think they’re here then?

CF: I don’t know where they hauled them. They might have hauled them to the hospital or somewhere.

LR: How long were you and Sheriff Slaughter at that site after you arrived?

CF: About 30 Minutes?

LR: Did you tell anyone about it?

CF: The Army was there and military soldiers were there.

LR: Did they tell you not to say anything?

CF: No, they didn’t tell me nothing’. They wouldn’t let you get close to ‘em.

LR: Did they actually see you observing what was going on?

CF: Sure, they saw me lookin’ at them.

LR: And they didn’t tell you to not say anything…..

CF: No, They wouldn’t let us get close to them. We were about 10 away.

LR: You were that close?

CF: We might have been further away. I didn’t have glasses then, I could see pretty good.

DB: What was your official capacity then?

CF: I was a Deputy The County Seat was I was riding with the Sheriff when we went to get the prisoner.

He didn’t order nobody except me to go with him. The UFO was already down when we got there. We went and got the prison afterwards. We heard about it on the radio.

LR: What did you hear on the radio?

CF: That the thing had crashed.

LR: But they didn’t know what ‘the thing’ was?

CF: No. But you would think that when people hear something like this, it scares the heck out of them. This came out of the POLICE RADIO. We were on the way through there (to pick up the prisoner) when we heard it on the police radio. It was a big distance from to Roswell…you can look on a map and see it.

LR: So let me ask you this. When you guys were driving down the road and you were listening to the police radio……

CF: Yeh…..

LR: Do you remember what was said on the radio about whatever it was… Do you recall?

C.Fogus Statement

CF: All I remember is they said that a saucer crashed out there in the canyon.

LR: They actually said the word ‘saucer’?

CF: They can call it a saucer if they want to but there ain’t a big enough cup of coffee for that thing.

LR: How long do you think you were at the site? (Note the cookoo clock goes off at noon)

CF: Probably about 20 minutes. We seen them haul them (the bodies) out there, out of the canyon up to the trucks….puttin them on the tow trucks so they could haul them.

Sheriff Jess Slaughter (date unknown).

Sheriff Jess Slaughter (date unknown).

DB: Did anyone try to get you to leave the scene.

CF: No….they told the Sheriff that we had to go. That was good enough for us….He’s the boss.

LR: When they were taking the beings (we’ll call them), were the beings laying on the ground around the saucer?

CF: Yeh, they were lifting them up with a crane that they had and picking them up and swinging them to put them on the truck. The bodies must have been 5 feet tall.

LR: Did you see the heads?

CF: Yeh….they were covered. They eyes looked like the ones we see on television and the pictures of them.

LR: What color was the skin?

CF: As much as I could tell….the skin was a brownish color…. Like they were in the sun too long.

LR: From the time it crashed until the time you got there, do you know how much time went by? From the time you heard it on the police radio until you got there?

CF: About two hours.

LR: Did you see any writing or engraving on the saucer?

CF: I wasn’t that close to it?

LR: If you were say 12 feet away from the beings, how far were the beings away from the saucer. Were they thrown pretty far?

CF; We couldn’t see that well because of the trees. It was in a riverbank. It slammed into a river bank. I say them lifting one up with the crane.

LR: Did anyone else talk to you about what was going on?

CF: There were some solders, but I don’t think they were from the Air Force.

LR: Where do you think they were from then?

CF: I don’t know. They were wearing uniforms. I didn’t pay no attention cause I just wanted to go with the Sheriff to get the heck out of there before something happened.

LR: When you guys were in the car to go pick the guy up, did you discuss or talk about what you had seen with the Sheriff?

CF: No. I didn’t know what they were and he didn’t either or where they came from or nothin.

DB: Did you see any blood on the bodies?

CF: I don’t know…. I guess they were dead.

LR: You’re 81 years old now. When and where were you born?

C.Fogus Statement

CF: I was born in I don’t know what city.

LR: You have been in the

CF: I sure have, before I became a Deputy Sheriff.

LR: So when this thing at Roswell happened, you were already out of the Army and were a Deputy Sheriff. That happened in 1947. Now it’s 1999. That was 52 years ago, Charlie. And you still remember it clearly?

CF: Yeh, pretty clear.

LR: Has anyone ever talked to you or asked you to talk about what happened…like to the Government, cause there’s a lot of research going on now because of the cover-up.

CF: There was one that came around, and I told him to shut up and not come around. I don’t know who they were. That was when I was Deputy Sheriff.

LR: When you saw the saucer, can you remember in your mind what it looked like. Can you draw it?

CF: No….you draw it?

(Note: Charlie had LR draw because he broke his arm and can’t use it). He directed LP to draw a circle (not an oval). Then he directed LR to draw another circle with the circle. This was a drawing of the top of the saucer. Charlie was standing on top of the opposite side of the bank of the dry creek bed where the saucer had crashed.

LR: Were you standing above it?

CF: I was standing on the back side. The saucer hit the bank on this side of the creek and I was standing on the other side of the bank, at the top of the hill. I was looking down at the site.

LR: So you had a ‘bird’s eye view‘, that’s why you were able to see the top of it?

CF: I didn’t have a ‘bird’s eye, I’ve got my own eyes (he laughs)

LR: LR shows Charlie the drawing. LR says, if this is the top (of the saucer), how much higher were you.

CF: Probably about 20 feet above it.

LR: So, that’s why you saw the top (of the saucer). And you say, that from here to here (across the top of the saucer – diameter) is about 100 feet.

CF: It was evenly round.

LR: So it was absolutely round…. Not oval shaped and you were 20 feet above it, that’s why you saw the top.

LR: did you see the fingers and hands?

CF: No, they were covered up. But I saw the head.

LR: But you said you saw the feet.

CF: Yeh, later on, when they were passing by I saw the feet. I could see them lifting it up with the crane. They wouldn’t let you close enough when they were puttin’ them into the truck. When they were liftin them on the crane you could see them layin’ on that thing.

LR: You said the body was covered. Were the arms layin on the stomach under the cover?

CF: When the wind blew, the cover went back so you could see the face. The same way with the feet.

INVESTIGATION

Nothing has been changed in the above transcript and who LR is I have no idea. No sooner had I started to try and help Scott Ferguson that all communication with him abruptly ceased. No matter how I tried to contact him I had no reply. So that is where I left it. It wasn’t until 2014 that I had an email from Robert Short (Deanna Bevers son) informing me that Scott had died. Any further work on this material was again delayed because of my own serious ill health.

In 2016, I contacted Robert Short and asked him if I could publish this material and try and continue with the investigation into it. Robert agreed and permission was granted. I asked for the assistance of Chris Evers, Irena Scott PhD and the Mutual UFO Network. The investigation into this material is on-going but between us we have managed to establish a few things. For example Sheriff Slaughter was not the Sheriff in 1947. He was in fact Sheriff twice, the first time from 1928 until 1940 and the second was 1953 to 1956. The Sheriff in 1947 was R.L. Wolf (see Sheriff’s log). We have also located his military discharge papers from WWII. On top of that there are a number of local newspapers that mention Charles Forgus.

REPORT ON  MUFON SAT Case # 17MSAT01ROS-001

PART ONE-DEPUTY FORGUS’S STORY

OVERVIEW

In 1999 a resident of Big Spring Texas gave a deposition to a private investigator claiming that he was a witness to the Roswell UFO crash in July of 1947.

Charles Forgus Jr. was born on January 28, 1918 and died in 2001.  He would have been 29 years old in 1947 when the incident is alleged to have taken place. He called himself a Deputy Sheriff for Howard County.

His co-witness was Sheriff Jess Slaughter. Slaughter was born in 1896 per the 1940 census. His obituary states he was born in 1894 and died in 1972.

So in 1947 Charles Forgus was 29 and his Sheriff Jess Slaughter was 53. Logical ages for their positions.

Charles Forgus related that “in the 1940s” he and Jess Slaughter were travelling between Big Spring Texas and Roswell New Mexico to pick up and return a prisoner to Big Spring which is the Howard County Texas seat. Both Forgus and Slaughter lived in Big Spring.

In the New Mexico portion of the journey travelling west to pick up the prisoner, they came across a crash and debris site in the desert. They observed three to four hundred Army personnel scouring the crash site. They observed a crashed “circular” saucer about 100 feet in diameter. They also saw two dead bodies being loaded onto a truck. The disc was described as circular, metal and had a second circle within it possibly a cupola. They explained their vantage point was over a dry river/creek bed viewable from the highway. The saucer had crashed into the riverbank below. Their vantage point was approximately 20 feet above the embankment presumably from the highway.

They witnessed two corpses being loaded onto a truck. The corpses were covered with sheets but wind allowed the officers to see human type feet, brown skin, large eyes on the head and they approximated the bodies as being 5 feet tall.

It is suggested that they were fairly close to Roswell and actually returned with the prisoner and saw more of the clean-up operation. The operation went on for hours presumably during daylight.

MAIN PROBLEMS

There are three main problems associated with the 1999 interview of Charles Forgus Jr. He was interviewed by Los Angeles private investigator Deanna Short. Deanna recorded the interview on video and later had a transcript done of the interview and completed her Agency report to verify facts at that time. Deanna is now deceased.

First, unbelievably, the interrogator did not ask Mr. Forgus for a date (not even a year) nor did she ask the location of the incident such as what highway it occurred on or the name of a nearby town even!  Ms. Short included an introduction to the interview where she states the witnesses encountered the incident in July of 1947 but there is nothing to base this on in the interview. As we shall see, it is more likely the witnesses encountered something in 1953 and not 1947.

Secondly, from the information Mr.Mantle, the person requesting MUFON’s assistance, initially provided to SAT, it appears Mr. Jesse Slaughter was a Sheriff in Howard County, Texas in the 1930s up to 1940. Subsequent follow-up by SAT revealed there is a gap of ten years until he was again elected Sheriff in 1951 (not 1953 as mentioned below).

I contacted the Howard County Texas Public Library and was sent this reply:

Mr. Spearing,

I could find no listings for past sheriffs of Howard County.  The attachment is an online search of the Big Spring Herald.  What I can determine is that Jess Slaughter was sheriff in the thirties. Then lost the position in 1940 and later won re-election in 1953.  Deputy C.H. Forgus became deputy under Sheriff Slaughter in 1953.

You can access the Big Spring Herald online and search the articles like I did.  I could find no articles in the 1940’s listing Jess Slaughter as Sheriff.  I found one article listing him as the Juvenile Officer.  The caption below the picture at the bottom of the attachment provides a great deal of information if you can read it.

This makes it unlikely that this was the Roswell crash of July 1947. 1953 or later is the best timeframe for the incident.

Lastly, while I found numerous direct line members of the Forgus and Slaughter families, all attempts to contact them via Facebook and telephone have been unsuccessful. It is my feeling that they do not wish to respond.

All indications are that they did not happen upon the Roswell Crash Incident. Mr. Forgus became a Deputy in 1953. Mr. Slaughter again became a Sheriff in 1951.  Best estimate is affair happened in 1953.

The most important aspect of the story is that while no location is given we know from the transcript that the two men were travelling west inside New Mexico.

We also know that according to Google Maps there are only two principal highways between Big Spring Texas and Roswell New Mexico – a northern and a southern route.

The two routes referenced in the MUFON report.

The two routes referenced in the MUFON report.

The Northern Route-

This route leaves Big Spring on a north-western trajectory and then turns due west to Roswell. The north-western leg of the route utilizes highway 87 north to highway 137 north. The turn westward uses Interstate 380 west for the remainder of the trip into Roswell. The important leg of this trek inside New Mexico from the Texas border to Roswell is approximately 85 miles on Route 380 west.

The Southern Route-

We leave Big Spring Texas heading due west on Route 176. At the Texas into New Mexico border route 176 becomes Rt. 234 and there are multiple routes to travel but in one good scenario described later, Route 234 west meets Route 18 North up to Hobbs and again goes west with Route 62 west to Route 529 west to Route 82 west to Route 285 north which brings you into Roswell from the South.  It is this route that is the most promising.

The one caveat is that the Interstate Highway System was only under construction in the late 40s and early 50s. There may have been a more rural road in existence prior to the creation of Interstate 380.  Therefore, some parameters may have changed such as location of the road and the elimination of certain landmarks such as a small dry creek bed with a 20 foot drop to the embankment by a large group of trees which is crucial to any continuing investigation.

THE SOUTHERN ROUTE SCENARIO

The critical question is what did the two law enforcement officers see?

Possible resolutions are:

  1. Extraterrestrial Craft with non-human pilots
  2. Military Exercise
  3. Plane Crash (military or civilian)
  4. American VTOL disc crash

Since we no longer have witnesses to clarify their answers, perhaps the only avenue is to find a newspaper account. The southern route scenario offers a resolution.

In the case of Roswell in 1947, thousands of pages of documentation have been scoured including aircraft crashes. The best course of action in this investigation was to pursue leads in 1953 when Forgus became a Deputy Sheriff.

On August 28, 1953, the Reno Evening Gazette ran a small front page story on a military air crash that reads as follows:

ELEVEN AIRMEN ESCAPE IN CRASH

ROSWELL N.M. AUGUST 28, 1953 (AP)

Eleven airmen escaped unhurt last night when their 4 engined B-50 bomber landed wheels up on gently rolling plains 35 miles southwest of Tatum, N.M. in southeast New Mexico. The plane of the 97th bomber wing at Biggs Air Force Base, El Paso Texas and piloted by Chester A. Walter, was on a routine training flight.

Boeing B-50D-95-BO (97th Bombardment Wing, early 1950s) (Credit: US Government/Wikimedia Commons)

If one draws a map southwest of Tatum, the closest highway it approaches on Mr. Forgus and Mr. Slaughter’s southern route is Route 62 west about 42 miles west of Hobbs N.M. and about 10 degrees south of Tatum.  It is an almost perfect fit as it is approximately 36 miles southwest of Tatum.

This would coincide with their westward trip shortly before they turned north to Roswell.

There are problems with this August 28th story however. First, there were no dead bodies. All crew members survived. Second, the craft was not circular but had a plane’s fuselage. However, the front of the B-50 bomber had a very unique multi-windowed cockpit that seen straight on could have been construed as disc shaped.

Additionally, Forgus reported the object as 100 feet in diameter. The B-50 was 99 feet long. Coincidence? It was also silver metallic.

It is a stretch that the B-50 accident could have been the object seen by the lawmen but it is also quite reasonable given the circumstances given the color, cockpit shape, month and year etc.

One theory is that the B-50 crash story was only a cover story to obfuscate the real story of a crash of a disc shaped object; a crash where pilots (human or non-human perished).

It is also possible that if it was an American made VTOL disc shaped craft it was attempting to land on the highway but fell short due to mechanical difficulties. This would explain its proximity to the highway.

In 1967 evidence was located at McDill Air Force Base that VTOLS as large as 116 feet in diameter had been built by the U.S. Military.

An alien craft is unlikely in that it probably would not have wanted such a strategically unpleasant location to land if it was having difficulties. However, the two non-human pilot bodies, if accurate, pose a dilemma in this scenario.

RECOMMENDATION AND CONCLUSION

RECOMMENDATION

If there is a MUFON Field Investigator living in the vicinity of Roswell, it may be beneficial to have him drive Route 380 between the Texas border and Roswell to see if he can identify the place described in Mr. Forgus’s deposition.

If Route 380 can be ruled out, the roads between Hobbs, N.M AND Roswell N.M. should be travelled specifically Route 62 west to Route 529 west to Route 82 west to Route 285 north into Roswell to locate a small cliff and riverbed.

If a good location candidate can be found, an excursion to the area would be in order to try and retrieve artefacts.

In the event a FI cannot be enlisted, alternatives would include inquiring of the State Police or even tow truck company dispatchers in the Roswell area for the solicitation of information on a possible location.

CONCLUSION

It seems highly unlikely that Mr. Forgus was forging a story from untruths. His timeframe is off but it seems likely that he came across something unusual in the desert along with Mr. Slaughter.  At times his story stretches the truth such as the sheet flapping in the wind allowing him to see parts of the two corpses.  However, details such as that they were going to return a prisoner from Roswell to Big Spring are superfluous details a liar would not include.

Unfortunately, the 1999 private investigator did not attempt to get an exact year or location thus crippling efforts 18 years later.

It also seems more likely that the event occurred in 1953 when the U.S. Military was experimenting with Vertical Take off Landing (VTOL) disc shaped craft some of which were 100 feet in diameter and probably piloted by one or two airmen.

It would also be a stretch based on the limited evidence we have to suggest the most likely scenario would be the crash of an alien disc.

If the site cannot be found by a MUFON Field Investigator or other means, the case should be closed out as “INSUFFICIENT DATA.”

— End of MUFON Report —

We wish to make it clear that we are open minded with regards to the veracity of what Charles Forgus has claimed. We have found a discrepancy in his story as Sheriff Slaughter was not the Sheriff in 1947. We would also like say that we found the MUFON report extremely compelling and we agree with their findings.
