100 Reported UFO Sightings in Minnesota Every Year | VIDEO

MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) – TV shows like “The X-Files” have explored the possibility of UFOs. And while there have been reported sightings all over the world, some say they continue to land right in Minnesota.

A local UFO group said there are about 100 reported sightings a year in the state. Although nearly 90 percent turn out to be something like a meteor or a plane, the others remain a mystery.

Minnesota witnesses at Prior Lake reported watching a red-orange glowing ball about six feet in diameter hovering over a marsh area that rose up, emitted two smaller spheres and moved away, according to testimony in Case 73536 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

At approximately 7:30 p.m.on October 28, 2015, the two witnesses were sitting in the sun room of a house in Prior Lake watching TV when a bright circular object above the tall grass in a swampy area about 400 feet away attracted the second witnesses’ attention.

“She called it to my attention,” the reporting witness stated.“This object, about five or six feet in diameter, was rising up and moving to the left at an angle. As it rose it emitted two similar, but smaller objects, each perhaps a foot and-a-half in diameter, which moved to each side of the first object, and the three flew off together in formation in a northeast direction until they were out of sight. The objects were all a red-orange color and not quite as bright as the full harvest moon.” […]

What Do Those Aliens On Fargo Really Mean?

Yes, we have definitive proof that aliens exist. At least on Fargo.

Ever since those unearthly lights first descended upon the massacre at the waffle house near Luverne, Minnesota, Fargo fans have been wondering: Was that some kind of spaceship? And if so, would the show ever directly address the existence of alien life, or would it remain one of the many cosmic jokes in the Fargo world? In “The Castle” (read the recap here), we finally got our answer as Peggy (Kirsten Dunst) saw an actual UFO hovering above the shootout that she and her husband, Ed (Jesse Plemons), were escaping. “It’s just a flying saucer, Ed,” Peggy said, delivering one of the season’s best lines. “We’ve got to go.”

Of course, a flying saucer is never just a flying saucer. There are already a million great theories circulating about what that flying saucer really means. Is it a riff on a real-life close encounter that a Minnesota sheriff’s deputy claimed he experienced in 1979? […]

‘Fargo’ Star Patrick Wilson Talks UFO Sightings

Fargo Flying Saucer

By Geoff Berkshire

     […]

Variety spoke with Wilson about Lou’s eventful episode, which included a touching exchange with Hank, a brutal face off with Bear, and the return of that mysterious UFO.

[…]

And in the midst of that fight with Bear, the UFO comes back. What does Lou make of that?

Lou’s a very practical guy. He seizes the moment and shoots Bear — he’s taking the task at hand. I don’t think he gives [the UFO] too much credence, until the next episode. At that moment he doesn’t have time to question it.

What about after Bear is shot and Lou lies back and stares at the UFO?

I remember thinking, “Am I dead?” There are those fleeting moments. “Do I walk to the light?” I think we’re more in that land. It’s the closest he’s gotten to death. I don’t think he’s too caught up in people from outer space at that point. We’ll address it in the way you can imagine Lou would address something.

Kirsten Dunst has that great line, “It’s just a flying saucer.”

That’s the kind of thing with this show. “Sure man, there’s a UFO. Why not?” They’ve seen everything else.

Did you embrace that feeling when you first read about the UFOs or did you ask (showrunner) Noah Hawley for an explanation?

In typical Noah fashion, you ask him about it and he’s like, “I don’t know, what do you think?” He’s not like, “Well, what it represents is…” I think that, yes, there’s this obsession with a phenomenon that seemed to be happening, and it was also the rise of “Close Encounters.” There was definitely a social awareness. But I remember when I read in episode one when it appears, I thought it was fantastic because it’s just so strange. There are just no answers to so much of this. And you’re not gonna get an answer. I think people like Peggy would go, “What? It’s a flying saucer.” Then again, she’s “touched” — which is my favorite line. […]

'UFO Occupants' Seen in Strange Craft

By Roger Marsh

A Minnesota witness at Olivia reported a close encounter with a low flying missile-shaped object that was so close that craft occupants could be seen behind rectangular-shaped windows, according to testimony in Case 72323 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness was driving home from Minneapolis and stopped in Olivia at a Dairy Queen and the continued driving west along Highway 212.

“When I looked out the passenger side window to the north, I noticed what at first I thought was a small airplane flying just above the tree line,” the witness stated.“I looked again and noticed the windows were too large to be airplane windows.”

The witness could not see the traditional red or green flashing aircraft lights that a small airplane would have.

“There were long rectangular windows in which I could see people standing and looking out. I grabbed my camera and tried to take a couple pictures. The craft then made a sharp 90-degree turn and headed toward me. On the front I saw three bright lights.” […]

The Real-Life UFO Story Behind This Season Of ‘Fargo’

UFOs On Fargo

By Tracy Mumford

10-27-15

“This is a true story.”

Those words kick off every episode of “Fargo” — they were also at the start of the 1996 movie.

Of course the Coen brothers, and now show creator Noah Hawley, are playing fast-and-loose with “truth.” But one of the most unbelievable, out-of-this-world parts of season two is, in fact, “a true story.”

(Stop reading now if you’re not caught up, Fargo watchers.)

We’re talking about the aliens.

So far, unexplained lights and UFO-talk have been in all three episodes of “Fargo,” which takes place in and around Luverne, Minn., in 1979.

For these supernatural allusions, Hawley may be pulling straight from the local history books. […]

Sheriff’s Deputy UFO Encounter | VIDEO

Sheriff’s Deputy UFO Encounter

[…] A Minnesota UFO sighting from the ‘70s is considered more credible than most, in part because of who called it in.

Marshall County sheriff’s deputy Val Johnson was on patrol in the early morning hours of Aug. 27, 1979, when he spotted something strange along a rural highway.

The president of the Marshall County Historical Society, Kent Broten, knows the story well.

“What (Deputy Johnson) saw was a bright object, maybe like a foot in diameter, about three and a half feet off the ground,” Broten said. “As he explained it in the news reports, what was there all of a sudden was here, so the light just shot at him, engulfed his car in light and blinded him.” […]

Minnesota witness alerted to UFO in building reflection

A Minnesota witness reported watching a bullet-shaped UFO hovering next to a Minneapolis building that quickly accelerated to the northeast after first seeing its reflection, according to testimony in Case 61617 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness was a front seat passenger in a carpool on a clear and bright day on October 28, 2014, when the object was first noticed.

“I was looking out of the passenger window and idly ran my eyes up the side of a mirrored building approximately 15-degrees to the right of my central viewpoint,” the witness stated. “As I followed the building up, I noticed the reflection of the craft in the side of the building.”

The witness turned her attention away from the building and saw the actual craft.

“It was silver, shiny, and somewhat bullet/chevron-shaped with three lights in the rear of the craft – two red, one white. There were no visible windows. No other object was in the area – again, the sky was clear blue.”

The object then moved away quickly.

“The craft remained stationary for the time of about one minute, and then accelerated to the northeast, over downtown Minneapolis. There was no noise from the craft as well. I was quite stunned, then surprise as I realized I had just witnessed an unexplained object.”

The witness provided one illustration of what the object looked like. Minneapolis is the county seat of Hennepin County, population 400,070.

Minnesota has a current UFO Alert Rating of 5 with a low number of recent reports nationally. Minnesota had 5 UFO reports that occurred during October 2014 – calculated at 0.93 sightings per million population.

The UFO Alert Rating System is based on five levels – 1 through 5 – where states with 4.01 or higher reports per million residents are rated an Alert 1; 3.01 – 4.0 reports are an Alert 2; 2.51 – 3.0 are an Alert 3; 2.01 – 2.5 are an Alert 4; and those states with 2.0 or lower are rated an Alert 5.

Please remember that most UFO sighting can be explained as something natural or man-made. The above quotes were edited for clarity. Please report UFO activity to MUFON.com.
