Shape-Shifting UFOs and British Tabloids

Shape-Shifting UFOs and British Tabloids

If some British tabloids are to be believed, UFOs have been lighting up the British skies these days, as if the night skies were an immense Christmas tree.

As reported in The Express, “thousands of people across the globe are seeing mysterious shape-shifting UFO.”

Of course, an unidentified flying object typically turns out to be something other than an ET spacecraft once we take a closer look. In this instance, on March 12, Rob Wheatman, a resident of Gloucester, captured an odd aerial phenomenon on video, as seen below.

Chuck Berry, Rock n’ Roller for Aliens, Dies at 90

Chuck Berry

Chuck Berry, the father of rock n’ roll, passed away Saturday at 90 years old. His music was sent to space for aliens to find, and for Back to the Future fans, he’s the guy on the phone who heard Marty McFly perform “Johnny B. Goode” and knew it would change the future. That’s right, Chuck Berry has transcended both space and time.

Remembering The UFO Cult, ‘Heaven’s Gate’

Remembering The UFO Cult, 'Heaven’s Gate'

March 26 is the 20th anniversary of a grisly discovery in Rancho Santa Fe: the corpses of 39 members of a religious group called Heaven’s Gate. They committed suicide believing their souls would travel on a UFO to new bodies in a better world.

In today’s Back Story, staff writer John Wilkens discusses how two decades of academic study and debate are reshaping our understanding of the group.

Q; How big of a deal was Heaven’s Gate?

A: Before the bodies were discovered, not big at all. The group had drawn some media attention in its early days, but then went underground and was known mostly by cult watchers. That was a source of frustration to them, and may have contributed to their final exit. The name itself, Heaven’s Gate, was a fairly recent development.

Black Triangle UFOs

Black Triangle UFOs

Triangle-shaped UFOs have been in the media for the past 20 years or so. Numerous television shows have reported cases from different parts of the U.S. and Western Europe. These craft are usually about the size of a football field and nearly two stories thick.

They are typically reported as having three major glowing orbs on the underside. They are non-reflective and black in color, but they’ve also been reported as glowing orange or yellow. The strangest element is that most reports say that they are unnervingly silent.

The CNY region is not without its reports of these triangle-shaped crafts. Among the earliest-known upstate reports of a triangle craft was in January 1979 in Herkimer. One winter’s night, a snowmobiler who lived in the country went to visit a friend five miles away. He stated that suddenly it became quiet; he couldn’t hear his sled’s engine and the snowmobile’s lights went out. He looked up and could make out the outline of a huge black triangle blocking out the stars. It had no lights and was silent. He said it took about two minutes for it to pass over head. It was perhaps 100 feet off the ground and when it passed under the power lines, arcs began jumping from the wires to the top of the craft. He watched it continue moving away over a hill and then out of sight. When he got home, nobody believed him.

UFOs, Kenneth Arnold and the American Bible

Kenneth Arnold was the original credible witness, a straight-shooting, down-to-earth ex-Boy Scout. Jacques Vallee wrote, “I now think of referring to the (flying saucer) problem as ‘the Arnold Phenomenon’ after that celebrated witness, businessman Kenneth

Arnold.” (11 April 1963 entry, Forbidden Science Volume I.) However, in the years since, Arnold’s role as the herald of the UFO age has been diminished by the overemphasis and promotion of the Roswell crash franchise. His role is important, and there’s a lot more to his story.

Shortly after his encounter, Arnold had the first of many other sightings on his flight to Maury Island, a trip that began his informal role as the first civilian UFO investigator. He became interested in Charles Fort’s books of phenomena and joined the Fortean Society. Over the years, he came to believe that the objects he’d seen were living creatures, possibly related to what Ezekiel had described in the Book of Revelation. There’s a lot more to Kenneth Arnold’s story than just his first sighting, but UFO history has largely ignored the story.

Westall UFO Sighting Witnesses to Speak

Westall UFO Sighting Witnesses to Speak

At 6am on April 6, 1966, Clayton South became host to one of Australia’s most intriguing mysteries when more than 200 school students witnessed an unidentified flying object.

It was Australia’s largest mass UFO sighting.

More than half a century later and a select group of witnesses will share their story at Victorian UFO Action’s event Westall — The Witnesses Speak.

Sue Savage, who now lives in Springvale North, was 13 at the time of the encounter; she was in science class at Westall High School when a fellow student ran into the class room shouting “there is a flying saucer outside”.
